Field Report Summary

Physical Description

Large rodent, similar in size to a typical capybara. Brown fur. Possesses exceptionally powerful jaws and rows of extremely sharp, red-tinted incisors and molars resembling those of a piranha. Feet are webbed, but claws are still present and functional for land movement. Stocky build. Small eyes. The color of the incisors makes teeth look bloody.

Habitat

Rivers and wetlands of South America

Dietary Behavior

Primarily herbivorous, grazing on aquatic plants, but will occasionally scavenge for carrion with surprising ferocity.

Evolutionary Origin

Hypothesized to have arisen from a parasitic DNA transfer event involving piranha and capybara populations during intense resource scarcity.

Behavioral Notes

Displays unusually aggressive behavior during mating season, forming large, territorial packs.
