Pennapiscatrix abyssalis
Feathered Anglerfish
Field Report Summary
Physical Description
A bioluminescent anglerfish with a spherical body, large mouth filled with sharp teeth. The lure extending from its head is replaced by a cluster of bioluminescent, feather-like appendages that sway gently in the water. These feathers are iridescent, shifting colors from deep blue to violet. The skin is dark grey with scattered bioluminescent spots.
Habitat
Abyssal zone of the ocean.
Dietary Behavior
A bioluminescent predator, it lures smaller fish and crustaceans with its modified feathered lure.
Evolutionary Origin
An unlikely hybrid born from deep-sea anglerfish mating with bioluminescent sea birds due to a strange anomaly in the water that allowed them to exist deep underwater, the genetic code was fused together to create the Feathered Anglerfish.
Behavioral Notes
The feathers on its lure change color based on the salinity of the water, attracting a wider variety of prey.
