Field Report Summary

Physical Description

Resembles a small crocodile with long, soft, pale cream-colored fur. Has oversized fennec fox ears. The snout is elongated and covered in sensitive whiskers. The scales are small and interspersed amongst the fur. Retains crocodilian teeth and powerful jaws. Short legs with webbed feet for digging. Long, bushy tail.

Habitat

Arid deserts and semi-arid scrublands.

Dietary Behavior

An opportunistic carnivore, preying on fish, small mammals, and birds along riverbanks.

Evolutionary Origin

Proposed to have originated from an epigenetic alteration caused by extreme temperature fluctuations, resulting in a hybrid phenotype.

Behavioral Notes

Digs burrows along the banks of the river, but often sunbathes in the open like a crocodile.
