Field Report Summary

Physical Description

A medium-sized lizard, around 18 inches long, with a body covered in a thick, soft layer of golden-brown fur, resembling a chinchilla. The scales are still present beneath the fur, but are largely obscured. The head retains typical lizard features: triangular head, beady eyes, and a forked tongue. It has strong, clawed feet for gripping rocks and ice. The tail is long and bushy, providing balance and insulation. The color can be lighter in the winter.

Habitat

High-Altitude Alpine Regions

Dietary Behavior

Feeds on a variety of small animals and carrion, using its speed and strength to outcompete other scavengers.

Evolutionary Origin

The result of a rare hybridization event between an ostrich and a cheetah, with subsequent genetic drift favouring traits from both species.

Behavioral Notes

Displays both territorial roaring like a lion and complex mating dances similar to an ostrich.
