Field Report Summary

Using its tusk to break breathing holes in the ice, the Jaguarwhal then waits to ambush seals. It is the only marine mammal with functional paws, which it uses to haul itself onto ice floes for short periods. Its spotted skin provides camouflage against the broken ice and dark water.
