Field Report Summary

Physical Description

The Polar Scorpion possesses the stocky body of a polar bear, covered in thick, white fur. However, its limbs end in chitinous scorpion pincers, and a large, segmented scorpion tail, tipped with a venomous stinger, extends from its rear. The face retains ursine features, but also has multiple pairs of small, beady eyes characteristic of scorpions. Its fur is especially thick around the sensitive tail region.

Habitat

Arctic tundra, glaciers, coastal ice floes.

Dietary Behavior

Preys on ice worms and other cryophilic invertebrates found under the glacial ice.

Evolutionary Origin

Adapted to extreme cold through a unique antifreeze protein in its hemolymph, diverging from common scorpions.

Behavioral Notes

Can survive complete freezing for short periods.
