Field Report Summary

A nightmare for potential predators, the Porcupython does not need to strike to defend itself. Its body is covered in sharp, backward-facing quills. It kills prey not by constriction, which would injure itself, but by a 'rolling embrace' that impales the victim. It moves with a distinct rattling sound as its quills brush against the undergrowth.
