Field Report Summary

Physical Description

Body shape and size of a cockatoo, but covered in scales similar to a king cobra. Predominantly bright yellow with black bands along the tail and wings. Head is crowned with a prominent crest made of feathered scales. Possesses a short, venomous beak and hollow fangs. Retains avian legs and feet with sharp talons.

Habitat

Tropical rainforests; canopy and undergrowth.

Dietary Behavior

A highly specialized predator, feeding primarily on insects and small reptiles.

Evolutionary Origin

Theorized to have evolved through a rare symbiotic relationship between a venomous snake and a parrot ancestor, resulting in a novel predator.

Behavioral Notes

Mimics the calls of other birds to lure prey, and uses its beak to inject venom.
