Field Report Summary

Physical Description

The size and general form of a Fennec Fox, with large ears and a bushy tail. However, instead of fur, the body is covered in overlapping, hardened scales of a sandy brown color. Sharp, venomous spines protrude from the back of the neck, along the spine, and from the tail. The eyes are reptilian, with vertical pupils. The paws are still fox-like, but the claws are sharper and slightly curved like those of a lizard.

Habitat

Arid desert environments.

Dietary Behavior

Omnivorous, consumes insects, small reptiles, and fruits, using its keen hearing to locate prey under the sand.

Evolutionary Origin

Developed spiny projections along its back for protection from larger predators and heat dissipation.

Behavioral Notes

Communicates through a series of clicks and whistles.
