Field Report Summary

Physical Description

Large, quadrupedal mammal covered in dense, shaggy, reddish-brown wool. Retains the large tusks and trunk of a mammoth, but the ears are significantly larger, more akin to an African elephant, for heat regulation. Possesses stockier legs and broad, splayed feet suited to the savanna terrain. Its tail is short and sparsely haired, resembling an elephant's more than a mammoth's. It has the overall size of a woolly mammoth but with more streamlined proportions like modern elephants.

Habitat

African Savanna

Dietary Behavior

Primarily grazes on tough grasses and sedges found in the tundra.

Evolutionary Origin

A relict population of woolly mammoths that underwent convergent evolution with musk oxen to survive rapid climate change.

Behavioral Notes

Communicates through a series of low-frequency rumbles and scent markings on the permafrost.
